JCB India Limited started as a joint venture in 1979 and is now a fully owned subsidiary of J.C Bamford Excavators, UK. The Ballabgarh facility, in Faridabad (Haryana), also the headquarters for JCB India, is the world’s largest Backhoe Loader plant. The plant was initially setup for manufacturing Backhoe Loaders, however today this state-of-the-art facility also manufacturers Skid Steers, Telehandlers, Diesel Engines and Diesel Generators.

JCB operates on the principle of “One Global Quality” and products made in this factory are sold not only in the Indian market but are also exported to over 50 countries today. This facility spread over 55 acres is a fully integrated manufacturing plant which makes four out of the seven product lines that JCB manufactures in India. It has already manufactured over 2,00,000 machines, the highest in the segment by any manufacturer.

Over the years JCB India invested around Rs. 2,000 crores in India and today employs over 5,000 people in its Indian operations. Its network of 60 dealers and over 600 outlets throughout India provides parts and product support to customers. Over 6000 professionally trained people are employed at these dealerships.

Over the past 35 years JCB has remained committed to investing in India and has expanded its operations with innovation and R&D.; Customer focus and quality have been at the core of its operations. JCB showed commitment to the state of Haryana when it invested Rs. 300 Crores in the expansion of the Ballabgarh plant in 2009, this was in the middle of the economic downturn when the rest of the industry was in a decline. Another investment of Rupees 130 Crores was made when JCB made its Engine plant to manufacture its range of diesel engines in 2011. JCB’s supplier base has also developed and grown over the years which has contributed to the advent of technology and employment in the MSME sector in the state.

The experience of dealing with the Haryana Government has been very positive. With its progressive leadership and positive working environment it has taken all necessary steps to promote investments in the state and has also to provide a conducive frame work for business.

Close proximity to the national capital also has facilitated easy availability of manpower and also helped the development of supplier clusters around the National Capital region. It has thereby contributed to the MSME drive which provides the backbone of the supply chain and are vital in the operations of JCB.
